Hello viewers, it’s nice to be connected with you once again through this blog. I hope you read and like my articles. Don’t forget to mail us. Today am back with one more interesting subject and that’s the Conversational Formula.

Conventional formula are words, phrases or sentences that are used to express certain concepts. Conventional formulas are habitual and are followed conventionally. In order to greet, apologize, invite, refuse, accept and thank someone we use such formula.

Some formula are:

1. Greeting:

Best wishes, Happy Birthday, Good morning, Good day, Good afternoon, Good night, Have a nice day, Wish you many more happy returns of the day, Congrats, Congratulations, Wish you a happy married life etc.

2. Apology:

Sorry, Extremely sorry, I 'm sorry (that)........ I apologize for..........I regret that.......Excuse me for......Pardon me, etc

3. Invitation:

You are most welcome, Do you want to......, Would you like to....?, I was wondering if you'd like to......etc.

4. Refusal:

                     You can't tell, I don't think so, I 'm sorry, etc

5. Accepting:

Yes, that's right, Yeah, I'm afraid so, Of course, Definitely, I think so, Probably, I guess so, Yes, Perhaps, That's ok, You're welcome, Don't mention it, etc.

6. Thanking:

Thanks, Thank you, Thanks a lot, Thanks for........, Thank you very much for......, It's very kind of you, I really appreciate it, etc.

Thus, conventional formula are certain terms used habitually in conversation. We have to be cautious while using these where some terms can be used formally but should not expressed in certain situations.
