Common Errors in English Language

As a second language learner one intends to make a lot of mistakes while speaking. In this class we are going to correct those mistakes and try to avoid it. There are some common errors in English that will occur while writing frequently. This can be rectified by proper training. Some common errors that occur frequently are as follows:



         1.      Error is using singular and plural form.

              Ex: a) Raja sing a song. (wrong)
                     b) Raja sings a song. (correct)

          2.      Omission of articles or misplacing the articles.

               Ex: a) It is a school where I studied. (wrong)
                      b) It is the school where I studied. (correct)

           3.      Use of adjectives for nouns and vice verse.

               Ex: a) There was silent in the class. (wrong)
                      b) There was silence in the class. (correct)


            4.      Misuse of prepositions.

              Ex: a) They laugh on me. (wrong)
                     b) They laugh at me. (correct)


            5.   Misplacing of words which have common things in them.

              Ex: a) I went their to meet him. (wrong)
                     b) I went there to meet him. (correct)


              6.      Wrong use of degrees of comparison.

               Ex: a) He is the most tallest boy in the class. (wrong)
                      b) He is the tallest boy in the class. (correct)


             7.      Using wrong tense forms.

               Ex: a) I did it just now. (wrong)
                      b) I have done it just now. (correct)


             8.    Using wrong spelling.

               Ex: a) Please, recieve the bill. (wrong)
                     b) Please, receive the bill. (correct)

       9.   Wrong use of pronouns.

              Ex: a) Please give it to I. (wrong)
                     b) Please give it to me. (correct)

       

           10.  The wrong use of the first person instead of third in indirect speech.

               Ex: a) He says that I will meet you tomorrow. (wrong)
                      b) He says that he will meet you tomorrow. (correct)
